Caring Carroll Transportation and General Eligibility Guidelines

Mission defined:  Caring Carroll is a volunteer based 501c3 non-profit that recruits, trains, and supports a network of volunteers who help to meet the non-medical needs of older (generally 62+ years of age) and functionally impaired adult Carroll County residents who have little to no local support who are striving to remain living independently in their own homes.

- Please note:  Most volunteers provide an hour or two of assistance per week.  Caring Carroll is not an in-home healthcare or caregiver relief agency.  Our volunteers are not trained to provide assistance to those residents with major mental or behavioral health concerns or those with dementia/Alzheimer’s.

*All prospective care receivers will complete an in-home interview process prior to being accepted into the Caring Carroll program.

Services Provided:

  • Friendly Visits

  • Shopping/Errands

  • Light Meal Preparation

  • Light Housekeeping

  • Yard work (regular mowing services excluded)

  • *In-County Transportation

  • Reassuring Social Phone Calls

Transportation Guidelines:

*We can only offer our volunteer transportation to those individuals who have completed the in-home interview process and have been found to be and/or continue to be eligible for the program.  All riders must ambulate independently.  We must have completed and signed interview forms prior to providing any type of service due to liability reasons.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

We are unable to supply volunteer transportation to the general public and therefore cannot honor call-in requests from individuals/agency referrals that have not completed the above process.

We do not supply on-going home-to-work-to-home transportation services for any individual, regardless of their client status with Caring Carroll as this would cause a strain on the volunteer base.

Although every effort is made to fulfill client transportation requests, we cannot guarantee that transportation requests will be fulfilled since this service is dependent on volunteer availability and willingness.

Due to our limited volunteer base/availability, we do not provide transportation to residents who are eligible for Medical Assistance transportation.

OR

  • Minor Functional impairment (however, we cannot provide transportation to those who are wheelchair bound at this time)

  • Must have a living environment in which volunteers will feel comfortable serving.
