About Caring Carroll

Caring Carroll is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, founded in December 2007, that matches trained volunteers to assist with the non-medical needs of older, isolated adults, 60+ years of age in Carroll County, MD, with limited resources, who wish to remain living independently.

Our Mission

Caring Carroll supports a network of volunteers who help to meet the non-medical needs of older adults with limited resources, living at home. With your help we can continue to make a positive impact in our senior community.

Our Organization

For years, Caring Carroll and our volunteers have made it our mission to help and improve the lives of our care receivers.

To efficiently match seniors with needed services, volunteers, and other forms of support, Caring Carroll continues to build a strong network of congregations and community groups across the county. This network provides Caring Carroll with a contact person from each participating group, who is called if a need arises near them, to see if a volunteer or service is available in that area.  If you are part of such a congregation or group and would like to participate, please contact us.

Caring Carroll’s covenant partners, churches and service organizations sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and pledge to support the mission of Caring Carroll through in-kind and financial efforts.  They are also eligible to send a representative to Caring Carroll’s monthly board meeting to help make decisions that determine our course of action.

Our Volunteers

Our volunteers offer services such as reassuring social phone calls, friendly visits, errands and grocery shopping, and transportation within the county. Caring Carroll “matches” volunteers and care recipients based on shared interests and location proximity in order to ensure a good experience for both. Volunteers set their own schedule, but most spend 1-2 hours per week with their care receiver. We also provide training, support, and liability insurance for our volunteers. All volunteers are background checked. Since 2007, we have served over 400 elderly and disabled residents of Carroll County. Caring Carroll volunteers provide numerous one-time requests such as Friendly Visits, Social Phone Calls, Errands, and Local Transportation. We would like to serve many more individuals – and with your help, we can!

Christy Knott
Christy Knott
Program Services Coordinator

Hi! My name is Christy Knott and I am the Program Coordinator at Caring Carroll. I began in August 2023. As the Program Coordinator, I help support and coordinate a network of volunteers who assist the needs of adults over the age of 60 residing in Carroll County, Maryland. I was born and raised in Montgomery County, Maryland and settled here in Carroll County in 2007. I became a mother at a young age which inspired me to help others. I wouldn’t be who I am today without the love and support from others. I strongly believe in the power of paying it forward. I live in Westminster. I am happily married with 3 adult children and 1 granddaughter. In my spare time I enjoy reading, coffee, and love a game night with my family.
